What is a low-cost carrier?
Low-cost carrier, or LCC, is a general term applied to an airline that has lower unit costs as compared to established “legacy” carriers. Typically, LCCs operate domestic point-to-point rather than traditional hub-and-spoke systems and use a simpler fleet with only one or two aircraft models. In recent years, LCCs have changed their distribution models and added inflight services, while legacies have unbundled their services to reduce costs.
