Air France To Follow BA In Using JFK Clear Lanes

Business Travel News

JANUARY 08, 2007 -- Air France next month plans to sponsor Registered Traveler lanes at JFK's Terminal 1 through a partnership with Verified Identity Pass, the companies announced today. The agreement mimics an arrangement between British Airways and Verified ID to launch Clear lanes at the JFK's Terminal 7 as soon as next week.

A Clear spokesperson today said that once the Air France program is launched, registered users could access the Clear lanes in Terminal 1 regardless of the airline they are flying. In addition to Air France, Terminal 1 houses such international carriers as Japan Airlines, Korean Airlines, Lufthansa and MaxJet, among others.

"Air France continues to look for ways to provide our customers with quality products and services that enhance their travel experience and Clear is yet another way we can achieve this goal," said Air France U.S.A. general manager and vice president Marie-Joseph Malé in a statement. The carrier said it would begin marketing the program to its customer base.

To join the program, travelers must submit to a background check, providing biographic and biometric information. If checks are satisfied, users pay an annual fee of $99.95 to use a biometric card that will give them access to the lanes.

Other airports poised to roll out Registered Traveler programs include Cincinnati, Indianapolis and San Jose.
