Can You Really Save Money Using Train Service vs. Airline Shuttles?

Atlas Travel has just performed a short analysis for one customer to find out how much money can be saved mandating train travel in 2009. The answer is quite interesting, especially when your company travel is located predominantly in the Northeast Corridor, where service is frequent and convenient to the large cities. In the case of Boston to New York City, the first class options on Amtrak saved a significant $731.86 over the first class flight.

There are obviously ground transportation costs, but this will happen with either train or airline travel.
