McKinnon Works on NBTAPAC to Lobby Congress on Fast Redress Act
As a member of the National Business Travel Association Political Action Committee Board, Atlas Executive VP Kerin McKinnon traveled to Washington, DC from June 9-11th to attend the NBTA Legislative Summit. McKinnon spent a full day on Capitol Hill with industry colleagues and activists lobbying for the Fast Redress Act.
The act was sponsored by freshman Congresswoman Yvette Clarke from Brooklyn, NY. The act calls for funding a process to help expedite removing innocent travelers from terrorist watch groups in a more timely and efficient manner. Thousands of business travelers are delayed every day due to having a similar name to someone on various agencies watch lists. Senator Kennedy was actually once detained due to his name appearing on a terrorist watch list. McKinnon's group (which included Scott Solombrino, the chairman of the NBTA PAC; Judie Auger, Travel Analyst for EMC; NBTA lobbyist Stewart Verdery and Shane Downy from NBTA) was assigned to the offices of Senator Kennedy, Senator Kerry, Congressmen John Olver, Congressman Barney Frank and Congressman James McGovern. Shortly after this visit to Capitol Hill, the bill passed unanimously through the House.
