Northwest Extends Domestic Ticket Validity to One Year
(October 30, 2006) - Effective November 1, 2006, Northwest Airlines will change the 90-day ticket validity policy. This change in policy will extend domestic nonrefundable and domestic and international WorldPerks ticket validity to one year.
Wholly unused and partially used domestic nonrefundable tickets issued on/after November 1, 2006, will be valid for one year from the original departure date. Domestic and international tickets issued using WorldPerks miles will be valid for one year from the date of issue on the original ticket.
"Northwest continually asks its customers what's important to them; extending domestic ticket validity is top-of-mind. This new policy will ensure Northwest is competitive within the industry and will provide our travel partners a consistent product when reissuing tickets," said Steve Sear, vice president of sales and customer care.
Currently, Northwest's ticket validity policy allows wholly unused international nonrefundable tickets to be reissued up to one year from the date of issue. Partially used international nonrefundable tickets are valid for reissue up to one year from the original departure date.History of Ticket Validity Policy for Domestic and International Nonrefundable Tickets
