Airline terminal changes at London Heathrow
BCD Travel In Motion, October 2007
As frequent travelers know, London's Heathrow Airport is in the midst of massive transformations. Over the next few years almost the entire airport will be rebuilt, refurbished or redesigned in order to better meet the demands of today's travelers.
The changes include:
- The re-development and modernization of Terminal 3 by the end of 2007.
- The demolition of Terminal 2 in 2008 and the construction of a brand new passenger terminal (Heathrow East) to replace Terminals 1 and 2 in time for the London Olympics in 2012.
- The opening of Terminal 5 in March 2008.
In order to accommodate current passenger volume in the midst of these changes, many airlines have already or will be changing terminals during the construction process. These shifts can be confusing to passengers, so we have compiled all planned moves (as communicated by the British Airports Authority) into a downloadable document, below.
