Comair Moves Flight Operations From Concourse C

comair.com, 8/26/2008

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Nearly 15 years ago, Comair opened the innovative 48-gate Concourse C, the largest ever designed exclusively for a regional airline. Today, Delta Air Lines, Comair's parent company, announced that as part of efforts to improve the customer experience and better standardize the regional and mainline experience, it will consolidate Delta Connection operations into Concourses A and B, effective January 2009.

The consolidation of regional operations in the other facilities marks the beginning a new era for customers flying through the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). Passengers will have improved access to jet bridges at gates, Delta Crown Room Clubs and other tools such as kiosks and helpline phone banks.

“Providing jet bridges in CVG has long been a priority for us,” said Comair President John Selvaggio. “We are pleased that this change will bring that vision closer to reality while also helping secure the long-term viability of the hub. Ultimately, our customers, the community and the Comair team all benefit from that.”

Delta, Comair and the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport will work together to add at least 11 new passenger loading bridges on Concourses A and B. The transition to an all-covered boarding process will take two to three years to complete. Passenger bussing between Concourses B and C will end in January.

The base of Comair's operation, including administrative support space, will transition to Concourse A. Comair employees currently handling flights at Concourse C will move to Concourses A and B to handle all Delta Connection departures. The transition will not directly result in additional schedule changes, as this move is made possible by changes previously completed or announced in response to record-high fuel costs.

Based at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport, Comair is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines and a Delta Connection carrier. The airline employs 6,300 dedicated aviation professionals and operates 650 flights a day to approximately 80 international and domestic destinations.
